10 MUST-HAVE My Little Pony Board Games!

Every party, get together or sleepover needs to have some form of entertainment and birthdays and holidays need some kind of gifts to be given. For thousands of years, until the present, board games have and will always be the most fun way to spend the time and bond with not only friends but family members as well. We will introduce to you the Top 10 My Little Pony board games you need to either own to play or just collect to display.

This list includes not only recently published board games, but the vintage games as well and other rare ones that are worth a look into as a family game or a collector's display.

My Little Pony: Monopoly

Ever since the early 1900's, Monopoly has been the World's number 1 board game. The standard version is usually played by 2-8 players and the game can last from about <30 minutes to over an hour. Other than the standard version, there are Junior versions made for the younger audience wherein there are only 2-4 players and the board is much smaller so the game only lasts <30 minutes. No matter which version you have played with your friends and family, you have to agree that the real-estate is always a charm and great fun every time you get to have a game set up.

Based on rolling dice and moving your tokens, or figurines from the television show; Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Fluttershy, the goal is to buy or trade properties in order to bring other players to bankruptcy and winning the game. The properties are from the locations Everfree Forest, Sweet Apple Acres, Cutie Mark Clubhouse, Manehattan and the Crystal Empire.

As for other My Little Pony versions, the Junior version has 4 collectible figures with a board that is about half the size for  the Standard. There is also a very special and rare Chocolate version wherein the pieces are made out of 32 pieces of Belgian milk chocolate that the winner gets to eat at the end of the game.

Enjoy your Monopoly game with your favorite Ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns with all the places you wish to be from Ponyville, Canterlot, and all of Equestria in general while playing with your family and friends to be the best real estate agent and Monopolize the board.

Rainbow Magic Game

This 2-4 players game is a cooperative between players wherein they spin and move around via a circular board in the hopes of landing on the special spaces. Each special space allows the player to add a piece of the rainbow that will get them to Princess Celestia's Canterlot Castle.

Working as a team, you have to be careful because there are some spaces on the spinner that will create a reaction that will cause a piece of the sky to turn stormy. Another space as well will send your pony to Ponyville where you will be stuck there until another one from your team lands on or spins a heart in order to set you free.

The goal is to assemble the whole rainbow before the entire sky becomes covered in the storm.

There are also other ways to play this simple yet thrilling game. Other than the original way, there is also a second type you can play wherein you still have to get a 4 in a row but with an already full grid of checkers by popping out 10 checkers to win.

My Little Pony: The Game of Life

Everyone knows the original The Game of Life game and it's goal for every player to go through life from college to retirement with marriage, job choice and possible children and grandchildren in your story. The person with the most amount of money at the end of the road, which is retirement, wins the game.

In the My Little Pony version of Life, it is Springtime in Equestria and Princess Celestia has realized that the long days and hot sun has been quickly leading to the Summer Sun Celebration and there was too much to prepare in Equestria. As the leader she is, she delegated Ponies, the players, in order to help prepare Equestria for the grand party.

Unlike the original, the My Little Pony Game of Life version focuses around the importance of friendship as throughout the game you will gain friends and Friendship Points which will assist you in the obstacles and finding of supplies for the party as you travel back to Ponyville just in time for the preparations. The characters used in this game are 4 collectible Pony pieces, Twilight Sparkle, DJ Pon-3, Dr. Hooves and Ditzy Doo and although they are just four pieces, more players can play especially if you also have the Monopoly My Little Pony since the tokens are the same scale as the Life game. Just like the television show, the My Little Pony Life game helps teach players of the important value of friendship and the things that matter in life.

My Little Pony Game: Race through Ponyville to Celebration Castle (Dream Castle)
Are you ready for a very original game that seems like a combination of both Sorry and Candyland? Absorbing the concepts of both games along with the mechanics of not only a spinner, but also drawn cards, My Little Pony: Dream Castle is an interesting vintage game that revolves around a "High-flying hot air balloon adventure."

Choose your pony, Pinkie Pie, Sunny Daze, Rainbow Dash or Sparkleworks and start by spinning the spinner to move around cloud by cloud right above Ponyville. The uses of the special cards are to help you switch places with other pony players while the winning goal is to be the first pony to land a 'touch down' at the fabulous Celebration Castle.

Rainbow Friends Game (Chutes and Ladders)

Not that many people can say that they don't know the ever-popular game, Chutes and Ladders. My Little Pony has their own exciting and colorful version of the game as well. This game features your favorite ponies Pinkie Pie, Princess Twilight and Rainbow Dash as you guide them along their journey climbing up ladders and sliding down chutes in the rainbow sky.

There is also a spinner to this version wherein if spun just right on a rainbow spot, you will be able to go to the closest rainbow, although if there are no more rainbows to go to on the board, a Gem Coin must be flipped instead. If landed on the side where there is a rainbow, you will instantly get to move to the 100th Square and win the game.

Now that is rainbow power!

My Little Pony Game (A Prize-Winning Pony Race)

Welcome to a Vintage Prize-Winning Pony Race!

Each player can choose from the ponies Cherries Jubilee, Wind Whistler, Magic Star and Shady in order to go through the thrill of racing around the board to reach the finish line.

The My Little Pony character have to be guided by you to race past important establishments like the Baby Bonnet School and the Lullabye Nursery in order to reach the finish line which is the Paradise Estate. During the race, the players' ponies get to collect points and even upon reaching the finish line, the player with the lowest score at the end of the games wins.
Why lowest points? Since the game is based on race-like and a competition-esque style, aiming for 1st place is a higher scoring system than aiming for 4th place, silly!

My Little Pony: Yahtzee

The 1940's game of Yahtzee has taken a twist by taking the well-known red, blue or yellow cup and turning it into a pretty Rainbow Dash figure as well as changing the regular dice into dice sided with cutie marks.

The mechanics of scoring points by rolling five dice in order to make combinations is still there but the combinations won't be numbers anymore, but cutie marks. Within thirteen rounds, a different scoring category must be used by choosing the point values of the next roll. A Yahtzee is a five of a kind and has a score of 50 points which is the highest to be achieved of any category. To win, at the end of the game, the player with the highest points is crowned winner.

This Yahtzee with a twist of My Little Pony will be a group favorite at the next family or friends gathering!

My Little Pony: Guess Who?

The concept of the original Guess Who? game is still constant, but this time it is infused with My Little Pony characters. Out of 48 ponies, one must as questions that can only be answered with a yes or no and continue to flip the squares of ponies that don't fit the description asked.

Having a My Little Pony version of this loved game is a great challenge to you and your friends and family since the characters are much more vague as each pony that is well known is either a female (mare) or an Earth pony.

Win the game by ending the round finally guessing the correct character.

There are two versions to this My Little Pony edition of Trouble. The first one is a vintage edition which stars Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Minty and Wysteria while the other one is a more recent edition that stars Twilight Sparkle, Rarity and still Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash.

No matter which edition you have, hopefully you get the My Little Pony version, the game-play is still the same which is another race to the finish by popping dice in the built in "POP-O-MATIC" dice roller.

Be the first player to move all your pawns around the whole board and into your home base to win the game.
