All About: Ditzy Doo a.k.a. Derpy Hooves

Ditzy Doo a.k.a. Derpy Hooves

Ditzy Doo a.k.a Muffins but best known as Derpy Hooves, due to a strong internet fan-base that inspired the Hasbro team to adopt the name, is a female Pegasus Pony and one of the most popular background ponies of 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic'.

The crowning moment of Derpy's
beginnings in Season 1 Episode 1
Derpy has been a hit since the first episode of the show, wherein Derpy was found with a "derpy" cross-eyed expression on her face as she was standing in the crowd during Twilight Sparkle's welcoming party. The term "derp" is actually a figure of speech type of slang referring to a silly or goofy expression or mannerism.

Originally Derpy's face shouldn't have even been visible in the scene that gave her her popularity since she was only a background pony just chosen from a palette and placed in the scene. Her face wasn't even supposed to be visible but due to a few layout changes during the editing phases, she was uncovered and surprisingly found to be one of the most loved ponies of the entire franchise. Jayson Thiessen who is the supervising director of the entire show actually was able to notice her expression and instead of opting for a quick fix to the scene, he was greatly amused and allowed Derpy's eyes to stay as is and to even opt to change the following episodes that had her visible and alter her eyes to keep her derp expression after seeing her popularity with the fans. The show's developer, Lauren Faust was equally as pleased to keep the changes in order to attend to the fans.

Before even Derpy was developed as a name, there was already mention of a "featherbrained" Pegasus named Ditzy Doo in the episode 'Winter Wrap Up' however, an appearance never was showed on-screen and that gave the team room to decide if that pony was ever to make an appearance, they would assign Derpy's design to that particular pony. Lauren Faust was delighted to then express that the name of the unnamed pony has been decided by the fans to be, Derpy Hooves.

As for Derpy's cutie mark, normally each mark would mean something special about that certain pony or pegasus. Derpy's shows six bubbles. However, since Derpy is just originally a background pony speculations say that there isn't much of a meaning to her cutie mark at all. However, there is some information with no direct quote or reference that possibly due to Faust's love of Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls or because Derpy is a delivery pony for her occupation, it represents the bubble wrap she has her deliveries wrapped in. Many just agree that these bubbles just perfectly represents her bubbly and cheerful personality and her clumsiness, making her a bit of a 'bubblehead'.

The first time the name Derpy was acknowledged on screen was in the episode 'The Last Roundup' wherein the episode's writer did share that the original name that was supposed to be uttered via the script was actually Ditzy Doo but for the fan service she requested the name to be changed to Derpy. In her Bronies Documentary interview, Faust shared her notes that she saw Derpy as a kind of 'Harpo Marx' type of character wherein she doesn't speak and isn't really called to a name in order to give the fans a type of clean slate to the character giving them a mysterious palette to work their imagination from.

Derpy as a filly in the episode Pinkie Pride
As for the fact that Derpy is still considered a background pony and background ponies don't normally carry  names. Back when the Philippine studio was working on the show, they gave her different nicknames from Bubbles, Stoneface, Ditzy and Bubblehead. However, Bubbles is actual the name of a G1 Earth Pony. The Canadian crew on the other hand did accept the name Derpy. There has been much talk circling around Derpy's name however the IDW Comics editor Bobby Curnow stated back in June 21, 2014 that Derpy is not her official name and she does not have an official name.

Since then, Derpy has been an integrated part of the My Little Pony franchise with her 'Where's Waldo' type of character in the series wherein every fan awaits to see her face in the crowd.

10 MUST-HAVE My Little Pony Board Games!

Every party, get together or sleepover needs to have some form of entertainment and birthdays and holidays need some kind of gifts to be given. For thousands of years, until the present, board games have and will always be the most fun way to spend the time and bond with not only friends but family members as well. We will introduce to you the Top 10 My Little Pony board games you need to either own to play or just collect to display.

This list includes not only recently published board games, but the vintage games as well and other rare ones that are worth a look into as a family game or a collector's display.

My Little Pony: Monopoly

Ever since the early 1900's, Monopoly has been the World's number 1 board game. The standard version is usually played by 2-8 players and the game can last from about <30 minutes to over an hour. Other than the standard version, there are Junior versions made for the younger audience wherein there are only 2-4 players and the board is much smaller so the game only lasts <30 minutes. No matter which version you have played with your friends and family, you have to agree that the real-estate is always a charm and great fun every time you get to have a game set up.

Based on rolling dice and moving your tokens, or figurines from the television show; Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Fluttershy, the goal is to buy or trade properties in order to bring other players to bankruptcy and winning the game. The properties are from the locations Everfree Forest, Sweet Apple Acres, Cutie Mark Clubhouse, Manehattan and the Crystal Empire.

As for other My Little Pony versions, the Junior version has 4 collectible figures with a board that is about half the size for  the Standard. There is also a very special and rare Chocolate version wherein the pieces are made out of 32 pieces of Belgian milk chocolate that the winner gets to eat at the end of the game.

Enjoy your Monopoly game with your favorite Ponies, Pegasi and Unicorns with all the places you wish to be from Ponyville, Canterlot, and all of Equestria in general while playing with your family and friends to be the best real estate agent and Monopolize the board.

Publisher: Hasbro, USAopoly 2013

Rainbow Magic Game

This 2-4 players game is a cooperative between players wherein they spin and move around via a circular board in the hopes of landing on the special spaces. Each special space allows the player to add a piece of the rainbow that will get them to Princess Celestia's Canterlot Castle.

Working as a team, you have to be careful because there are some spaces on the spinner that will create a reaction that will cause a piece of the sky to turn stormy. Another space as well will send your pony to Ponyville where you will be stuck there until another one from your team lands on or spins a heart in order to set you free.

The goal is to assemble the whole rainbow before the entire sky becomes covered in the storm.

Publisher: Cardinal, Hasbro 2014

My Little Pony: Connect 4

Connect 4 has been a household name in games and the My Little Pony version is definitely a keeper since it features the Mane Six Ponies that everybody loves.

A 2 player game, it's a race to beat your friend to make a 4 line of your character whether it is diagonal, sideways, or straight upwards. The first player to do so, wins. There are also other ways to play this simple yet thrilling game. Other than the original way, there is also a second type you can play wherein you still have to get a 4 in a row but with an already full grid of checkers by popping out 10 checkers to win.

Publisher: Hasbro, USAopoly 2014

My Little Pony: The Game of Life

Everyone knows the original The Game of Life game and it's goal for every player to go through life from college to retirement with marriage, job choice and possible children and grandchildren in your story. The person with the most amount of money at the end of the road, which is retirement, wins the game.

In the My Little Pony version of Life, it is Springtime in Equestria and Princess Celestia has realized that the long days and hot sun has been quickly leading to the Summer Sun Celebration and there was too much to prepare in Equestria. As the leader she is, she delegated Ponies, the players, in order to help prepare Equestria for the grand party.

Unlike the original, the My Little Pony Game of Life version focuses around the importance of friendship as throughout the game you will gain friends and Friendship Points which will assist you in the obstacles and finding of supplies for the party as you travel back to Ponyville just in time for the preparations. The characters used in this game are 4 collectible Pony pieces, Twilight Sparkle, DJ Pon-3, Dr. Hooves and Ditzy Doo and although they are just four pieces, more players can play especially if you also have the Monopoly My Little Pony since the tokens are the same scale as the Life game. Just like the television show, the My Little Pony Life game helps teach players of the important value of friendship and the things that matter in life.

My Little Pony Game: Race through Ponyville to Celebration Castle (Dream Castle)
Are you ready for a very original game that seems like a combination of both Sorry and Candyland? Absorbing the concepts of both games along with the mechanics of not only a spinner, but also drawn cards, My Little Pony: Dream Castle is an interesting vintage game that revolves around a "High-flying hot air balloon adventure."

Choose your pony, Pinkie Pie, Sunny Daze, Rainbow Dash or Sparkleworks and start by spinning the spinner to move around cloud by cloud right above Ponyville. The uses of the special cards are to help you switch places with other pony players while the winning goal is to be the first pony to land a 'touch down' at the fabulous Celebration Castle.

Publisher: Milton Bradley 2003

Rainbow Friends Game (Chutes and Ladders)

Not that many people can say that they don't know the ever-popular game, Chutes and Ladders. My Little Pony has their own exciting and colorful version of the game as well. This game features your favorite ponies Pinkie Pie, Princess Twilight and Rainbow Dash as you guide them along their journey climbing up ladders and sliding down chutes in the rainbow sky.

There is also a spinner to this version wherein if spun just right on a rainbow spot, you will be able to go to the closest rainbow, although if there are no more rainbows to go to on the board, a Gem Coin must be flipped instead. If landed on the side where there is a rainbow, you will instantly get to move to the 100th Square and win the game.

Now that is rainbow power!

Publisher: Hasbro 2014

My Little Pony Game (A Prize-Winning Pony Race)

Welcome to a Vintage Prize-Winning Pony Race!

Each player can choose from the ponies Cherries Jubilee, Wind Whistler, Magic Star and Shady in order to go through the thrill of racing around the board to reach the finish line.

The My Little Pony character have to be guided by you to race past important establishments like the Baby Bonnet School and the Lullabye Nursery in order to reach the finish line which is the Paradise Estate. During the race, the players' ponies get to collect points and even upon reaching the finish line, the player with the lowest score at the end of the games wins.
Why lowest points? Since the game is based on race-like and a competition-esque style, aiming for 1st place is a higher scoring system than aiming for 4th place, silly!

Publisher: Milton Bradley 1986

My Little Pony: Yahtzee

The 1940's game of Yahtzee has taken a twist by taking the well-known red, blue or yellow cup and turning it into a pretty Rainbow Dash figure as well as changing the regular dice into dice sided with cutie marks.

The mechanics of scoring points by rolling five dice in order to make combinations is still there but the combinations won't be numbers anymore, but cutie marks. Within thirteen rounds, a different scoring category must be used by choosing the point values of the next roll. A Yahtzee is a five of a kind and has a score of 50 points which is the highest to be achieved of any category. To win, at the end of the game, the player with the highest points is crowned winner.

This Yahtzee with a twist of My Little Pony will be a group favorite at the next family or friends gathering!

Publisher: Hasbro, USAopoly 2015

My Little Pony: Guess Who?

The concept of the original Guess Who? game is still constant, but this time it is infused with My Little Pony characters. Out of 48 ponies, one must as questions that can only be answered with a yes or no and continue to flip the squares of ponies that don't fit the description asked.

Having a My Little Pony version of this loved game is a great challenge to you and your friends and family since the characters are much more vague as each pony that is well known is either a female (mare) or an Earth pony.

Win the game by ending the round finally guessing the correct character.

Publisher: Hasbro 2015

My Little Pony: Trouble

There are two versions to this My Little Pony edition of Trouble. The first one is a vintage edition which stars Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Minty and Wysteria while the other one is a more recent edition that stars Twilight Sparkle, Rarity and still Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash.

No matter which edition you have, hopefully you get the My Little Pony version, the game-play is still the same which is another race to the finish by popping dice in the built in "POP-O-MATIC" dice roller.

Be the first player to move all your pawns around the whole board and into your home base to win the game.

Publisher: Hasbro

My Little Pony: FiM - Season 1 Ep 11 - Winter Wrap Up

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Season 1 Episode 11 - Winter Wrap Up
Lesson:
You will always belong somewhere. If you don't feel like you do yet, that just means you need a little more patience and diligence for you to find your hidden talent. Every single one of us carries a hidden talent and sometimes we just need to find the situation that arises in order for it to blossom. Also, with teamwork, any job will be more fun and will get done quicker, more efficiently and more effectively.

SUMMARY:
The eleventh episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is entitled 'Winter Wrap Up'.
The episodes introduces Twilight Sparkle as she excitedly wakes up in Golden Oak Library ready for a special day wherein everypony works together in the 'Winter Wrap Up' event that ends Winter in order to welcome Spring. Spike is annoyed by his disturbance in his sleep but Twilight continues to share to him the Ponyville tradition of not using magic since Ponyville was founded by Earth ponies. As the event is a 'literal' cleaning up of Winter, Twilight Sparkle checks off everything on her list and gets ready to head out without realizing that it is still dawn.

HELP TURNS TO MESSES

In the morning, Twilight Sparkle along with a sleepy Spike on her back head to the center of Ponyville where Mayor Mare is making a speech and ends with the introduction of the different 'spring-cleaning' teams which are the Animals, Weather, and Plants with colored vests of Tan, Blue and Green respectively. The vests were designed by Rarity and Twilight frantically tries to figure out which team she would belong to during the whole event but she gets confused and sings the "Winter Wrap Up Song."

Wanting to help, Twilight Sparkle catches up with Rainbow Dash and asks if she could help out her and the Weather Team but then is softly reminded by Rainbow that she doesn't have wings like the other Pegasus ponies.

Afterwards, she ambles over to Rarity where she is found near Carousel Boutique doing her job as official nest designer since she is part of the Animal team. Rarity explains so Twilight that she is making nests for the birds from the south so that when they come back to Ponyville, they have a home to come to. Twilight Sparkle asks Rarity if she could try a go at it but the nest she makes turns into a disaster so she slumps away to find something else to help out with while Rarity attempts to fix her nest.

Twilight and Spike then run into Pinkie Pie who is a part of the Weather Team as well. Pinkie was in charge of scoring the lakes in order for the ice chunks to melt quicker when the other Weather Team pegasi are finished clearing the clouds. Pinkie Pie expresses that she has been an expert skater ever since she was young and prompted Twilight Sparkle to give a try as well. Twilight tried, but didn't know how to balance since it was her first time skating resulting in her and Pinkie Pie crashing into a snow bank after in which Pinkie suggest Twilight to help the Animal Team and the critters.

Finding Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle and Spike approach her waking up the critters from their hibernation homes. Twilight starts to help Fluttershy with what seemed an easy job until she awakens a den of snakes which frightens her causing her to back into a cave of bats, causing her to run into a tree where a bee hive falls on her head and lastly causing her to dash into a skunk den and getting sprayed. The next scene shows Twilight Sparkle getting a tomato bath by Spike while he tries to push his suggestion to her of using magic. In the end, Twilight still refuses because she will absolutely follow the Ponyville tradition of using no magic at all during the "Winter Wrap Up."

Her promise wavers though when she finds the Plant Team along with Applejack as they plow the snow from the fields in order to plant crops. Twilight Sparkle expresses her desire to help and even though Applejack hesitates, she allows Twilight to grab a one-pony plow. Sadly, Twilight wasn't strong enought to push the plow with her own strength so she summons a "come-to-life" spell which quickly gets out of control. Resulting in a even greater mess than when they started, Applejacks scolds Twilight Sparkle as she runs away in tears.

FINDING HER HIDDEN TALENT

With Twilight Sparkle feeling like she has run out of options, she hides in a bush in the Town Square until she overhears that everypony in Ponyville aren't faring too well with the Winter clean-up as well. Applejack and Fluttershy get in an argument as they both tell Rainbow Dash and her flight team to do two different things and she gets confused whether to speed up the melt or let it stay as is. Rarity is also in a bind as she has still done only one out of the needed hundreds of nests she needs to do because she was preoccupied in fixing Twilight's disaster of a nest. Rainbowshine tells Rainbow Dash about the bird situation as she shares that Ditzy Doo has flown north rather than south. Also Big McIntosh brings over Caramel to Applejack wherein she already guesses that he has lost the grass seeds, again. Mayor Mare then comes along to express her frustration with everypony as she reminds them of their past failures through the years wherein Spring was late consecutively and she realizes that her motivational speech from early morning wasn't effective towards the performance of everypony while it is almost sunset. Twilight Sparkle then realizes that she does have another talent other than just magic and she jumps out of the bush for everypony to hear that she has the talent of 'organizing' and she breaks up all the fights to help designate every pony to each station in order to finish the clean-up task.

Due to careful planning and teamwork, everypony gathered together and worked throughout the night in order to finish the tasks at hand. Along with an instrumental version of the Winter Wrap Up Tune, a montage of the successful clean-up drive is shown. With thanks to Twilight Sparkle's extraordinary organizing skills, Mayor Mare designated the title of "All-Team Organizer" to Twilight along with a newly designed vest designed by Rarity that has all three colors of all three teams incorporated into one vest. Mayor Mare then announces to the whole Ponyville team that Winter has been wrapped up just on time and everyone then celebrates. The scene ends as everypony giggle to Spike's soon-to-be unfortunate predicament as he continues sleeping on an ice floe.

Twilight Sparkle then sends her friendship report to Princess Celestia with the theme of teamwork and friendship gets work done and that every body has hidden talents as long as they have the diligence and patience to find them. Before she could finish her report though, a sickly Spike falls asleep and Twilight giggles it off.

My Little Pony: FiM - Season 1 Ep 10 - Swarm of the Century

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Season 1 Episode 10 - Swarm of the Century

Lesson:
When problems arise, always have an open mind to any solution or suggestion. You don't have to frantically rush to solve that problem, sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and ask your friends what are their opinions. Every now and then, the answer comes from on of the least expected sources and even in the beginning it may sound like a bunch of hooey, it may pay off to listen and take a chance.

SUMMARY

The tenth episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is entitled 'Swarm of the Century'.

Fluttershy stumbles upon a new creature which are known as parasprites and as she introduces them to her friends, they become more of an infestation rather than a cute pet. The parasprites create chaos in Ponyville with the awful timing of the ponies preparations for the visit of Princess Celestia.

Originally this episode was supposed to be called 'Pied Piper Pinkie' but then was agreed to be changed during a later meeting. As a Star Trek "Trekkie", Lauren Faust noticed the similarities between this episode of the Parasprites and the Tribbles from Star Trek and admitted that they just "went with it: for the episode. Also, writer M. A. Larson had the Gremlins in mind during the writing of said episode.

THE DISCOVERY OF A PARASPRITE

This episode starts out with Fluttershy as she is gathering flowers in a field near the Everfree Forest in order to help prepare for Princess Celestia's grand visit to Ponyville. Out of the blue, a small flying creature introduces itself to Fluttershy. Surprisingly, she has never seen the kind of creature before but still offers it an apple to eat but the creature ends up eating a bushel of apples despite it's small size. Charmed, yet surprised, Fluttershy adopts the little fella and is excited to share the creature with her friends.

Every pony in Ponyville is also preparing for Princess Celestia's arrival especially Twilight Sparkle who frantically tries to make everything picture perfect. Twilight then tells Spike that the Library has to be spotless while she heads out to check how all the other ponies are faring with the preparations. As she stops by Sugarcube Corner, she encounters a stressed out Mr. and Mrs. Cake who have been baking sweets for Princess Celestia, the problem is Pinkie Pie has been eating them all. Her excuse is that she is just sampling the sweets to make sure they are perfectly delicious for Princess Celestia. Fluttershy then enters Sugarcube Corner to show Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie the new creatures she found but amazingly three of them pop up rather than one. Twilight becomes dazzled with the cute creatures and adopts one so that Spike can have company while Pinkie on the other hand disgustingly reacts, calling the creatures "parasprites" and running off telling her friends she needs to find a trombone.

Twilight Sparkle heads over to Carousel Boutique to see how Rarity is doing with her preparations. When she arrives, she comments on what a beautiful job Rarity is doing on the dresses she is making for the royal visit while Rarity adds finishing touches on Rainbow Dash's sophisticated dress. Twilight, excited to show her friends the new parasprite she adopted takes it out with a surprise that she doesn't have one anymore, but three. Both Rarity and Rainbow Dash happily adopt the other two parasprites.

PARASPRITES, PARASPRITES EVERYWHERE!

The next day, the ponies wake up to a surprise. Twilight Sparkle and Spike wake up to their library overrun with parasprites that uncontrollably destroy and devour books, scrolls and parchment. Also in Cloudsdale, Rainbow Dash wakes up to irritation as her swarm of parasprites cling to her making her furious. At the Carousel Boutique, Rarity isn't bothered by the parasprites' numbers until she witnesses the way they reproduce which is by coughing up and vomiting up another parasprite. Even animal-lover Fluttershy was overwhelmed by the hoard of parasprites that was at her house. Twilight worries that Princess Celestia's visit to Ponyville will be a disaster if the parasprites keep up their destructive number without being dealt with. Meanwhile, Pinkie Pie continues to gather up musical instruments like a banjo, harmonica and a pair of maracas. The other ponies think that Pinkie is just in one of her random moods and ignore her efforts to continue brainstorming themselves on what to do to solve their parasprite problem.

In an attempt to eliminate the parasprite problem, Applejack tries to round them all up and with the help of her friends, lead them to the Everfree Forest. It is successful, but when they return to Fluttershy's house, an outburst of parasprites come out while Fluttershy admits that she couldn't help herself and kept one parasprite. Rainbow Dash then tries to solve the problem as well as she creates a tornado that sucks up all the parasprites. It is successful at first until Pinkie Pie comes along bearing a pair of cymbals which then gets sucked up by Rainbow's tornado. Trying to dodge the cymbals, Rainbow Dash's concentration breaks and the tornado she made falls apart. Without her friends listening to her reasoning, Pinkie Pie then continues to seek out more musical instruments while the rest of the gang runs after the hoard of parasprites that head to Ponyville.

WHERE CAN HELP BE FOUND?

As the ponies watch in horror of the parasprites eating all the food in Ponyville, Twilight Sparkle casts a desperate spell to suppress the parasprite's appetite for food. The backlash to her spell is the parasprites developed an appetite for everything that wasn't food like signs, lampposts, dresses, carts and even words from Twilight's books. In need of help, Twilight brings a parasprite to Zecora in the Everfree Forest where she automatically identifies it as a parasprite. Although the problem is Zecora herself doesn't know how to get rid of the parasprites. Twilight then returns to Ponyville frantically worried about what they are to do for Princess Celestia's arrival. She even thinks up a plan to create a replica of Ponyville but then Princess Celestia's royal procession becomes visible on the horizon.

PINKIE PIE TO THE RESCUE

When everypony was about to give up all hope, Pinkie Pie comes along in a one pony band playing all the instruments she had gathered throughout the two days she was seen as being completely random. Twilight Sparkle and their friends suspect that Pinkie was just having another random spree until they see that all the parasprites are following her in a single-file line like a "Pinkie Pied Piper" all the way out of Ponyville.

As Twilight and her friends gather around at the outskirts of town to meet up with Princess Celestia, the Princess sees the comical parade of Pinkie Pie and the parasprites as a part of a parade in her honor. Although Princess Celestia shows up, she had to inform Twilight Sparkle that her visit to Ponyville will have to be postponed as she needed to tend to an infestation of "incredibiliy bothersome creatures" in Fillydelphia. Before she leaves though, Princess Celestia asks Twilight to give her a friendship report. Twilight Sparkle answers the Princess with the lesson that unlikely solutions to any problem can come from an unlikely source which is why listening to your friend's opinions and ideas to different perspectives is really important thing to do even if at first they don't make any sense at all. Princess Celestia then shares her comments on how proud she is of Twilight and her friends and takes off to Fillydelphia.

After Princess Celestia's departure all the pony friends gather around to apologize to Pinkie Pie for not listening to her in the first place. Twilight Sparkle tells her that she is a great friend even though her and the rest of the ponies may not always understand her and her brain. They thank Pinkie for saving Ponyville and the mane six turn around and walk together to Ponyville. The last scene is of Pinkie Pie playing a trombone to express their dismay to a battered Ponyville.

My Little Pony: FiM - Season 1 Ep 9 - Bridle Gossip

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Season 1 Episode 9 - Bridle Gossip

Lesson:
If you don't know that person yet, don't be prejudicial and get to know that person better. In other words, "Don't judge a book by its cover." You don't know what is going on in that person's life, first of all meet that person, and if you don't really like their physical features, start to love their attitude. For true friends love what is inside a person, their attitude, heart and personality, not their looks.

SUMMARY:

The ninth episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is entitled 'Bridle Gossip'.

Twilight Sparkle  and all her friends encounter a strange Zebra in Ponyville by the name of Zecora. All the ponies see her as an evil enchantress and hide from her until Apple Bloom wants to show them that she is brave and will uncover the mystery of Zecora while Twilight is still skeptical and doesn't believe in curses or the supernatural.

As they wander to the Everfree Forest where Zecora lives to bring back Apple Bloom, the ponies come head to head with a surprise the next morning. Blaming the so-called enchantress Zecora for cursing them, the ponies head out to find her and solve the mystery.

The title of the episode seems to be a spin-off from the phrase 'idle gossip'.

EVERYPONY, HIDE!

Together, Twilight Sparkle and Spike arrive in Ponyville to find it deserted and eerily quiet. The both of them wonder why Ponyville's town square seems almost abandoned wherein Spike becomes frightened from his imagination that zombies are on the lose. After the duo speculates for a bit, they suddenly hear Pinkie Pie trying to catch their attention. Frantically calling Twilight and Spike to go inside Sugarcube Corner, Pinkie Pie tells them to get inside before "she" gets them. When they get inside, they find their friends Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Applejack's little sister Apple Bloom. All of them, except for Apple Bloom are hiding in fright from the"odd-looking pony" named Zecora since no pony knows why she comes to visit Ponyville every month. All the other ponies know is that Zecora comes from Everfree Forest. Twilight Sparkle then explains to her friends that her gray and white mane is her natural color and not a "bad taste in fashion" as Rarity calls it. Twilight also shares that Zecora is also called a zebra and that her kind comes from a "far away land." Pinkie Pie then shares a song she made just for Zecora called "Evil Enchantress" which is what all the ponies think she is, except for Twilight of course.

LET'S GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS, FOLLOW ZECORA!

All the ponies then discuss things about Zecora like how she is mysterious, strange and an evil enchantress while Apple Bloom decides she will get to the bottom of the mystery and approach Zecora herself. She then quietly escapes the bakery and follows Zecora to the Everfree Forest. When the ponies notice that Apple Bloom is no where to be found, they realize that she must have followed Zecora so the group goes out to find Apple Bloom. The ponies catch up to Apple Bloom as she is spotted right behind Zecora who is surrounded by many blue flowers. As Applejack calls out for Apple Bloom and their friends follow her lead, Zecora warns them about the blue flowers by saying, "Beware! Beware, you pony folk! Those leaves of blue are not a joke!" Applejack scoops up Apple Bloom off the ground and onto her back while the other ponies, except for Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle ignore what Zecora warned in order to taunt her, blaming her for casting spells. They all then head home through the blue flowers while Twilight tries her hardest to tell her friends the difference between normal magic and what the others would call, Zecora's curses. As Twilight tells them that "curses" are just harmful and fictional "pony tales", Applejack warns Twilight that some "pony tales" are indeed true.

THE PONIES UNDER "JOKES"

That night, Twilight Sparkle has a nightmare where her friends warn her of evil and even Zecora was a part of her dream which startled her making her wake up. As she remembers what her friends told her about the mysterious zebra, Twilight starts to brush her hair which leads her to realize that her horn has turned limp, wobbly and covered in blue spots. Twilight then frantically searches through her books to find a cure. Spike asks Twilight if the book he found, entitled Supernaturals would be of any help. Twilight then tells him to disregard that certain book and not even open it because it only displays details of superstitious beliefs and other information that would be completely useless. Meanwhile, the rest of Twilight's friends arrive one at a time at the library with ailments of their own. Pinkie Pie's tongue is now covered in blue spots and is so swollen that her tongue hangs out of her mouth and she can't be understood and spits when she talks. Rainbow Dash got her wings inverted and instead of being on her back sides, they were somehow moved to her lower sides making her crash all over the place and preventing her from flying correctly. Rarity's mane, tail and coat had grown out so long that she couldn't walk or see properly, she looked like a walking mop or the Komondor Dog Breed. Applejack on the other hand has shrunken down to a tiny size where she had to ride on Apple Bloom's back to get to the library. Fluttershy was to ashamed to speak at first but eventually revealed to her friends that she had gained a deep man-voice that was voice by voice artist and actor Blu Mankuma. Seeing the state of the ponies, Spike laughs until he's rolling on the floor and giving each pony a silly name to each of their ailments.
The nicknames Spike gives them are:
  • Rarity - "Hairity"
  • Rainbow Dash - "Rainbow Crash"
  • Pinkie Pie - "Spitty Pie"
  • Applejack - "Apple Teeny"
  • Fluttershy - "Flutterguy"
However, Spike can't find a perfect nickname for Twilight Sparkle right away, but when the ponies were about to head out of the library, Spike suggested the name "Twilight Flopple."

All the ponies except for Twilight Sparkle conclude that they were "hexed" or "cursed" by the mysterious Zecora and plan to confront Zecora. Apple Bloom thinks that it is her  fault for her friend's ailments and goes ahead and looks for Zecora first. Applejack notices that Apple Bloom started to venture on her own and hops into her tail. As soon as the others notice that Applejack disappeared they frantically search their hooves and behind just in case someone has stepped or sat on her. After they notice that Apple Bloom is gone, they realize that the sisters have gone out in search of Zecora. All the ponies then adventure out of the library to search for the cure to their ailments. Fluttershy asks Spike if he would come along too, but he rejects the offer with an alibi that he will look for a cure but truthfully will search for a better nickname for Twilight Sparkle.

On Apple Bloom's way into Everfree Forest, Applejack reveals herself to her little sister and orders her to stop adventuring into the forest. Slyly realizing she is bigger than her older sister, Apple Bloom tells Applejack that she doesn't have to listen to her since she is technically the big sister now. Apple Bloom then puts Applejack on a branch. A little later after, Rainbow Dash crashes into the tree where Applejack was placed, catching her in her mouth. Applejack swiftly makes reins out of twigs and leaves, fixes it on Rainbow Dash and jumps on her chest to lead her properly through the forest.

MEETING ZECORA

When the ponies reach Zecora's home, they see her talking in a language they don't understand and brewing up a concoction. Pinkie Pie gets Fluttershy to sing her "Evil Enchantress" song since she is unable to do it with her swollen tongue. After Twilight Sparkle sees Zecora in her home doing her what seems to be, "enchantments", Twilight starts to wonder if Zecora really is bad after all. When the ponies overhear Zecora mentioning something about Apple Bloom, they immediately conclude that Zecora is making a stew with Apple Bloom as the main ingredient. After that the four of them scream and Rainbow Dash and Applejack barge into Zecora's home while Rarity, Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie follow their lead and try to sabotage Zecora's concoction by tipping the cauldron over and spilling its contents. Rainbow Dash continues to add more damage to the hut as she flies and crashes everywhere while the other ponies confront Zecora about the "curse" she has put on them. Apple Bloom then appears from behind carrying saddle bags full of ingredients that Zecora was looking for. The two of them then explain to the ponies what Zecora was making and the reason for all their ailments. I happened to be that Zecora was making a home-made remedy for the ailments they received from the poison joke that they had encountered the day before. Poison joke gives you "humorous" symptoms to anypony who touches it, Zecora was warning the ponies, but they were all too hard-headed to listen to her. Twilight Sparkle is curious to where Zecora found a cure when she herself couldn't find any in all her books. Zecora showed her the book she used which was entitled "Supernaturals" which just meant "natural remedies and cure-alls that are simply super" and the same book the Twilight didn't even bother opening earlier. Twilight then asked is Zecora could make another batch of the remedy. Zecora would be happy to help them out but she is lacking an ingredient which she needs at Ponyville but for some reason all the shops are closed when she visits town.

WELCOME TO THE FRIENDSHIP

All the ponies then escort Zecora to Ponyville to get the missing ingredient although the other ponies in Ponyville are still afraid of Zecora. Twilight Sparkle talks to them and the scene cuts to where Twilight, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Apple Bloom and Zecora are all hanging out together at the spa, soaking in Zecora's remedy bath. Twilight's friendship report voices over as she talks about how true friendship doesn't judge and to "never judge a book by its cover." A spa pony asks Zecora for the recipe to her "luxurious bath" while the other ponies become cured from their poison joke ailments after a short episode of panic from the ponies as they worried about sitting or stepping on Applejack.
